Sparta Cricket is delighted to announce that Juandré Scheepers has been appointed as the Club’s full-time captain ahead of the 2026 season.
The 25-year-old made his Sparta debut in 2024 after relocating from SA to The Netherlands. Scheepers comming in his third season for the Red Caps on the back of a succesfull rugby season with Sparta Rugby winning their league and promotion.
Scheepers: ”It’s an honour to lead this team. After two seasons here, i truly believe in this group. This is our moment to set new standards- work harder, play braver and back eachother completely. If we stay united, hungry and fearless, we can achieve something special together.”
Board member Martijn Snoep said: “I am thrilled that Dré has agreed to become our new Club Captain, taking over from the strong foundations which Mudassar Bukhari and myself put in place over the last 12 seasons. Dré has been a key performer with both bat and bowl for us and his dedication, passion and ambitions for the Club have been evident since his arrival. He is a popular and respected figure in the squad who leads with tenacity.”
