Sparta Cricket is pleased to announce the signing of Kiwi gloveman, Riley Mudford for their 2024 Dutch Topklasse campaign.
Mudford is an explosive wicket-keeper batter from Auckland, New Zealand.
Often batting at the top of the order, Riley has an aggressive approach, looking to put pressure onto the oppositions bowlers from the start of his innings. Currently playing for North Shore Cricket Club in the Auckland Premier Grade Competition, the 22-year-old is an exciting prospect with ambitions to achieve First-Class honours.
A current member of the Auckland ‘A’ set up, Mudford has been around the side since his debut in 2021. Already an experienced individual, Riley recently headed overseas to the UK for the 2023 season. Turning our for Irish club Railway Union, the talented stumper racked up 572 runs at an average of 44, including 5 fifties and hundred.
After enjoying an impressive start to the season, the Aucklander was selected to represent Irish based Provincial side Leinster. Playing in two Cricket Ireland T20 fixtures, Riley struck 55 off 22 balls on debut, playing in a side that was captained by Ireland International George Dockrell.
Riley is now set to venture to the Netherlands in 2024 having recently signed with Sparta Rotterdam Cricket Club for their Topklasse campaign.
