Sparta cricketer Kyle Klesse is opgeroepen voor het Duits cricketelftal. Klesse, die van geboorte de Duitse nationaliteit bezit, is bezig aan zijn eerste seizoen op de Bermweg en is na een aantal goede innings op de radar gekomen van die Mannschaft. Hij voegt zich vandaag bij de selectie in Frankfurt om vervolgens af te reizen naar Malawi om deel te gaan nemen aan een T20 vierlandentoernooi met naast het gastland ook Tanzania en Bahrein. Kyle mist hierdoor het thuisduel in de Topklasse met Kampong van aanstaande zaterdag en de afsluiting van het Mini’s cricket op zondag.

Mocht hij zijn debuut maken, kan zaterdag tegen Malawi al, wordt hij de tiende cricketer die op het moment van spelen voor Sparta ook zijn land vertegenwoordigd.

TKcricket.com: Juandre Scheepers was again among the wickets for the Spartans, removing internationals Vikram Singh and Teja Nidamanuru before returning to add the scalp of Johan Smal, who had anchored the innings in reaching 64.

At 155 for five VRA could have been in trouble, but they were rescued by their lower middle order, Patrick Gouge making 46 and Viraj Thakur 44, which Ibaad Zaidi hit his maiden Topklasse half-century, making 55 before becoming one of three victims for Max Hoornweg, who finished with three for 32.

Their efforts enabled VRA to reach 285, and it was soon evident that there would be no repeat of Sparta’s spirited chase against HBS last week.

Only Lukas Boorer (34) and Tim Ferguson (28) managed reasonably substantial contributions, but the feature of the innings, and probably of the match, was Vikram Singh’s maiden five-wicket haul, all five of his victims caught behind by Jack Cassidy.

Singh finished with five for 37, and Sparta were all out for 142; now four points behind Excelsior and VOC at the foot of the table, the Capelle club seem certain to be playing Hoofdklasse cricket next season.

Tkcricket.com: The battle to avoid relegation heated up several more degrees on Saturday, as the bottom four slugged it out in two crucial matches.

Sparta beat HBS by 4 wickets. It wasn’t just the fact of the win which should send a shiver down the spines of Sparta’s rivals but its manner: their bowlers recovered well after conceding 89 runs in the first eight overs, Lehan Botha launching an extraordinary onslaught which gave him a 32-ball 76, and the batters then raced to their target in 28.2 overs.

Botha’s half-century came in just 17 deliveries, and his innings included nine fours and five sixes, all but ten of his runs coming in boundaries.

He eventually fell to Juandre Scheepers, who added the scalps of Tayo Walbrugh and Wes Barresi in the space of four more deliveries, and although Elmar Boendermaker contributed a patient 47 and Reese Mason made 40 as he batted with the tail, HBS were dismissed for 203.

Scheepers finished with four for 38, and there were two wickets apiece for Khalid Ahmadi and Umar Baker.

Sam Ferguson gave the reply a flying start with a 24-ball 39, but the key partnership was that for the fourth wicket between Lukas Boorer (87 from 73 deliveries) and Ahmadi (39 from 20), who added 95 in nine overs.

Botha struck back to remove both in the space of four deliveries, but by that point only 16 more were needed and Sparta made sure of the victory.

Verslag Sparta 1 – VRA 1 d.d. 10 mei 2025

Eindelijk het perfecte weer om een mooie wedstrijd Cricket te spelen. VRA is de oudste cricketvereniging van Amsterdam. De basis begon in 1882 als cricketclub RUN, later door fusies wordt de officiële oprichting datum 1914 genomen.

Elk jaar monden de wedstrijden tussen Sparta en VRA uit in uitermate spannende wedstrijden. VRA was verzwakt omdat zijn 3 internationaals moesten afstaan aan de KNCB.. Ook hier geldt weer het belangrijkste facet te zijn. Na die nederlagen op een rij moest het deze zaterdag gebeuren.

VRA won de toss en verkoos batten. Der eerste twee wickets vielen door uitstekend bowlen van Malik snel ( 0 rund en 3 runs) Zij werden opgevolgd door hun overseas en beide heren Gouge en Smal sloegen er lustig op los. Tot zij resp. 69 en 86 runs werden ingerekend door Malik en Scheepers. Hierna scoorde VRA nog wat runnetjes tot uiteindelijk de stand 204 all out 1 bal voor tijd op de borden kwam. Bowling cijfers Scheepers 4 wickets, Malik 3 wickets Ahmadi 2 wicket en Baker 1. Lukas Boorer onderscheidde zich als keer met 3 prachtige vangen. Hierna de batting van Sparta. Met angst en vreze werd hier naar uitgekeken, vooral om er nog geen goede resultaten getoond waren. Ook Sparta starte dramatisch; Steenbergen 1 run en Boorer 8 runs. Sam Ferguson hield de zaak bij elkaar met 44 runs. Hier na kwam onze Duitse Zuid-Afrikaan in de ring en met verstandig batten scoorde hij 74 runs not out. Na wat sprokkelwerk van Scheepers 22 kwam de grote acceleratie Ahmadi met 38 runs waaronder 5 enorme zessen. Hij scoorde dit uit 27 ballen. Na 48,2 overs stond er 205 voor 6 op het bord en Sparta had gewonnen. Lang klonk Rood en Wit is onze glorie …….

Zaterdag a.s. speelt Sparta uit tegen Kampong. Die dan weer met hun internationaals aantreden. G.Kamerbeek

TKcricket.com: Also winless after two rounds, HBS and Sparta 1888 duked it out at Craeyenhout, and it was the home side who eventually came out on top, Wesley Barresi’s 85 the key to their four-wicket victory.

Barresi had had an influential role with the ball as well, taking the new ball with fellow-spinner Jayden Rossouw and claiming three for 40; spinners bowled 34 of the 48 overs in Sparta’s innings, Tayo Walbrugh’s tactics paying off as the Capelle side were dismissed for 210.

Opener Jochem Steenbergen made 39 and Lukas Boorer top-scored with 51, but HBS maintained the pressure well to restrict their opponents to a relatively modest total.

The Crows were in early trouble at 57 for three, but Barresi steadied the ship in partnership first with Reece Mason and then with Sellin de Beer, and only five more runs were required when the former international was bowled by Juandre Scheepers.

TKcricket.com: …..There was a similar story at Sportpark Bermweg, where Voorburg’s hearts fluttered briefly as their batters set out in chase of Sparta 1888’s total of 210.

Former international Ahsan Malik grabbed two early wickets, as he has done so often, but at 31 for two returning overseas Gavin Kaplan was joined by Bas de Leede, turning out for his old club under a dispensation which allows a player to appear in the Dutch competition as well as one abroad when he returns to the club which raised him.

The pair put on 124 for the third wicket, De Leede making 57 of them in a knock which bodes well for the upcoming League 2 series against Canada and the UAE, and then Kaplan and skipper Noah Croes saw the 2023 champions home, Kaplan finishing it with back-to-back boundaries to end on 85 not out.

Earlier, Sparta had battled hard to set a defendable total, Kyle Klesse top-scoring with 41 before he was most unfortunately run out by a direct hit from Bas de Leede’s younger brother Tom after a misunderstanding with fellow-overseas  Lucas Boorer.

Not for the first time, Umar Baker contributed valuable runs as he batted with the tail, the last two Sparta wickets adding 42, while Udit Nashier was the most successful of the Voorburg bowlers, claiming three for 40 in his first outing with his new club.

Mini’s is een cricketconcept gericht op kinderen van 4 t/m 9 jaar (wordt gesplitst per leeftijdscategorie). Door middel van sportieve, uitdagende, leerzame en vooral leuke oefeningen laten we kinderen op een speelse manier kennis maken met cricket. De oefeningen zijn er op gericht om de motoriek, het balgevoel en het coördinatievermogen te ontwikkelen en te verbeteren.

Ook wordt er aandacht besteed aan een warming up en lichaamsoefeningen, doen wij diverse spelletjes op muziek en laten we de Mini’s samenwerken met elkaar en met de ouder waardoor de sociale vaardigheden een boost krijgen.

De oefeningen duren ongeveer 10 minuten. Een training duurt 45 minuten.

Cricket is voor alle kinderen leuk om te doen door de diversiteit aan disciplines. Ballen wegslaan, rennen, gooien, vangen, punten scoren en (onderlinge) competitie. Voor jongens en meisjes, binnen of buiten. Er kan altijd gecricket worden!

Cricket wordt gespeeld in de zomer en kan een prima combinatie vormen met vele andere sporten die ’s winters worden gespeeld zoals voetbal en rugby.
